While her "Days of Our Lives" character Hope was "out of town," actress Kristian Alfonso gave birth to a boy and enjoyed a brief vacation from the NBC daytime drama.
Alfonso spent the much-needed break tending to her growing family. She and her husband, lawyer Danny Daggenhurst, also have 12-year-old and 9-year-old sons. "The boys help out with the baby," she says. "It's a very sweet time."
After her two-and-a-half months off, Alfonso has returned full time to "Days of Our Lives." Although she was happy to be back on set, she noticed something odd about the welcome she received. "It's so funny because the first thing that everyone has done as they are saying hi to me and hugging me is that they are scanning my body to see if I've lost the weight," she laughs.

When asked about Hope's future on "Days of Our Lives," Alfonso hinted, "I think she's in for a big surprise. Something completely unpredictable and unexpected, that's for sure." It seems that Hope will not be the only character returning to Salem. "You are going to be seeing a lot of new and a lot of familiar faces," is all she will reveal.
Familiar faces are a big part of the show's appeal as far as Alfonso is concerned. "I love being back here. I guess the reason that I keep returning to the show is that it's comfortable, it's wonderful to be here, " she explains. "I work with great people and the story is great."
Hope Williams Brady may be faced with some tough times ahead, but the actress who plays her is living the high life. "Life is good right now, life is really good. I am so blessed and enjoying every moment of it," she adds. "This is a dream job."
Alfonso will return on Monday's (Oct. 14) episode. "Days of Our Lives" airs weekdays on NBC. Check local listings for broadcast time.
