Tonight is the season premiere of this new adventure series from the creator of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel." 500 years in the future after a universal civil war, the crew of the spaceship Serenity will take any job, legal or not, to help them survive in the frontier-like conditions found on the fringes of the universe. In this episode, Serenity's captain agrees to pull off a risky train heist, and later regrets his decision.

This new family comedy makes its first appearance on The WB tonight. David Tiant is a 15-year old in an ethnically mixed, upwardly mobile family. His Mexican American dad lives his life according to old-fashioned values, especially the concept of father knows best, which can be a bit hard for a teenager to take. Fortunately, David has a wacky uncle and grandmother on hand to distract his dad every once in a while.

John Doe
9:00 P.M. EST -FOX-
In this debut episode, a man wakes up naked and alone on a deserted island. He possesses knowledge of literally everything in the world, except for his own identity. Instead of making a run on the game show circuit and winning millions, this "John Doe" heads to Seattle, where he befriends the police and uses his special gift to help them solve impossible crimes each week. Of course, in his spare time he tries to find out who he really is.

Amanda Bynes and Jennie Garth play sisters who find themselves sharing a Upper West Side apartment in New York. Simon Rex plays Garth's boyfriend. Hijinks ensue.
