The 4th Annual
Family Television Awards
8:00 P.M. EST -ABC-
Tom Bergeron ("America's Funniest Home Videos," "Hollywood Squares")
hosts the ceremony, which will feature the group SHeDAISY, and celebrity
presenters John Ritter ("8 Simple Rules...," "Three's Company"), Tim
Curry (the new "Family Affair"), Catherine Bell ("JAG") and George
Lopez ("George Lopez"). These awards recognize programs that are relevant
and interesting for the whole family to view together, but don't bet
on "The Osbournes" taking home a lot of trophies.
The X-Files: Jump
the Shark
9:00 P.M. EST -FOX-
For those of you who do not know, the phrase "Jump the Shark" refers
to the moment when a beloved television show begins its inevitable
decline. Many viewers believe that the X-Files jumped the proverbial
shark when David Duchovny left the show, beginning the interminable
search for Agent Mulder. In this episode, the remaining agents seek
help from the grating geek trio, The Lone Gunmen, to find information
on the Super Soldiers who menaced Mulder.
Making Marines:
Phase One
8:00 P.M. EST -DISC-
The network's "On the Inside" series follows young Marine recruits
as they arrive for Boot Camp at Parris Island, South Carolina. Not
all of the young people introduced in part one will make it to the
end of the grueling 13-week training program. Watching the mental
and physical tests these recruits endure will make shows like "Big
Brother" and "Fear Factor" look like tea parties. Phase two and three
of the series will air immediately afterward.
Monk: Mr
Monk Goes to the Hospital
10:00 P.M.
EST -USA-
While Monk is temporarily institutionalized he helps the hospital
staff disinfect some things. Oh, and he stumbles upon an unsolved
murder, and straightens that out, too. He's very tidy.
Sensible
Chic
9:00 P.M.
EST -HGTV-
In these four back-to-back episodes, host Susan Blake and designer
Kendall Wilkinson will teach you how to make your home look like it's
worth millions of dollars with a budget of only hundreds. First step,
take down the "Baywatch" posters.
Celine Dion:
A New Day Has Come
10:00 P.M.
EST -CBS-
The Canadian singer performs songs from her new album. Fans are thrilled
that she has returned to performing. Detractors wonder where her hiatus
went.
Law & Order:
Special Victims Unit
10:00 P.M.
EST -NBC-

to two rival gangs. Unfortunately, the gang members are reluctant

First Annual
Comics Come Home
8:00 P.M.
EST -Comedy-
Denis Leary hosts a stand up benefit for the Cam Neely Foundation
featuring comics Steven Wright, Jon Stewart, Marc Maron and Laura
Kightlinger. It's funny and good for society!
Who is Michael
Jackson?

EST -VH1-
Hmm… Wasn't he a successful singer years ago? And didn't he have a
nose at one point? |
