Dog Eat Dog
9:00 P.M.
-NBC-
What do you get when you put the fat naked guy and the angry trucker
woman from "Survivor" in a game show with O.J. Simpson's gofer and
the I-said-I-do-but-I-don't-really winner of "Who Wants To Marry A
Millionaire?" Hopefully, you get truckloads of humiliation
for all involved. That said, Richard Hatch, Susan Hawk, Kato Katelin
and Darva Conger compete against each other on NBC's new reality game
show tonight.
Pleasantville
8:00 P.M.
-ABC-
Two modern-day teens are magically transported into a black-and-white
50s television show, ala "Leave it to Beaver." Their presence begins
to add color to the world of "Pleasantville," both literally and figuratively.
The real draw of the film is the amazing cast, which includes "Spiderman's"
Tobey Maguire, "Legally Blonde's" Reese Witherspoon and Paul Walker
from "Fast and Furious," not to mention Joan Allen, William H. Macy,
Jeff Daniels, J.T. Walsh, and -- yes, that is Malcolm's mom
-- Jane Kaczmarek.
Moulin Rouge
8:00 P.M.
-Cinemax-
Love it or hate it, the wild, colorful style of director Baz Luhrman
is like nothing else seen in Hollywood these days. It doesn't always
work, but his frenetic musical about the love of a young writer for
a doomed courtesan is worth watching for its enthusiasm alone. Nicole
Kidman earned kudos for her singing efforts, but don't overlook Ewan
McGregor's strong performance, either.
48 Hours
10:00 P.M.
-CBS-
A man photographs the rape and torture of his girlfriend, but is not
convicted of murder. "48 Hours" investigates the reason justice was
not served.
Curb Your
Enthusiasm
9:00 P.M.
-HBO-
In this episode, Larry gets caught up in a series of events that lead
to his involvement with "Porno Gil" played by Bob Odenkirk ("Mr. Show.")
Crossing
the Line
9:00 P.M.
-LIFE-
Terry Farrell stars as an assistant coach to a champion high school
girls basketball team. She soon finds out that the player's parents
take the games way too seriously.
Happy Gilmore
8:00 P.M.
-FOX-
Adam Sandler plays his standard angry man child character in this
film about a hockey player who takes up golf to deal with his rage
issues. Watch for Bob Barker.
The Pet Psychic
8:00 P.M.
-ANIM-
A woman tunes into the minds of animals. How hard can that be? "Is
that the can opener? I want to go outside. Don't even think
of putting that stupid sweater on me!"
SpongeBob
Squarepants
8:00 P.M.
-NICK-
It's supposed to be for kids, but you know you watch. With the hypnotic
colors and sly humor, there's really no shame in it. Unless you are
a Patrick Star fan - that is just pathetic.
