Door to Door
8:00 P.M.
-TNT-
The always-endearing William H. Macy stars as Bill Porter, a man born
with cerebral palsy who takes up a career as a door-to-door salesman,
despite the challenges. Based on a true story, the film shows how
Porter's efforts eventually won over the people on his route. Kyra
Sedgwick costars as Shelly Brady, a woman Porter hires as an assistant.
Helen Mirren plays his mother, and Kathy Baker appears as a faithful
customer.
60 Minutes
8:00 P.M.
-CBS-
Looks like the FBI is in more trouble. An ex-agent tells Ed Bradley
that they let their informant, Boston mobster James "Whitey" Bulger,
literally get away with murder before he eluded custody and became
their most-wanted American fugitive. Where's Elliot Ness when you
need him? Also, Lesley Stahl travels to Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife
Refuge, but doesn't get a marriage proposal from any Alaskan bachelors.
(That we know of.)
Jerry Maguire
7:00 P.M.
-FOX-
Tom Cruise stars as the sports agent who discovers that a conscience
is technically a career-ending handicap in his profession. Renee Zellweger
is the woman who completes him, Jonathan Lipnicki is her trivia-obsessed
yet adorable son. Cuba Gooding Jr. is Maguire's last remaining client,
who introduced the phrase "Show me the money" to popular culture.
Thanks, Cuba.
Robin Williams:
Live on Broadway
9:00 P.M.
-HBO-
The hyperactive comedian performs live at the Broadway Theatre in
New York City. Lately, he's been playing sociopaths and serial killers
("Death to Smoochy," "Insomnia") so it may be worth a look to see
if the stand up act has changed in tone.
The Osbournes
8:00 P.M.
-MTV-
In what is sure to become a classic episode, the Osbournes deal with
a noisy neighbor "Prince of Darkness" style.
Alias
9:00 P.M.
-ABC-
Quentin Tarantino guest stars as an ex-agent who takes over SD-6 and
tortures Sloan with taunts about a mysterious box. The box isn't so
bad, but his acting is excruciating,
Michael Jackson:
30th Anniversary Special
7:00 P.M.
-VH1-
It's a shame about that record label ruining Michael Jackson's career.
All this time, people have attributed his decline to the fact that
he has become extremely weird. Who knew?
Dante's Peak
7:30 P.M.
-USA-
Pierce Brosnan saves Linda Hamilton and her family from a volcano.
If they were being chased by a killer cyborg, she would have saved
him, but this is a natural disaster, so her hands are tied.
Weakest Link
8:00 P.M.
-NBC-
Will evil host Anne Robinson go easy on this group of 11th graders,
or will she damage their fragile psyches for life with her cutting
ridicule? |
