It's Saturday night, Sept. 14, and time for Danielle to make her nominations.
Last Thursday, Marcellas committed "Big Brother 3" suicide by not using the Golden Veto on himself. That leaves Lisa, Amy, Jason and Danielle as the final four.
Danielle finally won a HOH competition, and as the disembodied "Big Brother 3" voice noted, she couldn't have picked a better time. She can't contain her excitement, and rushes into the HOH room to inspect her basket of goodies. It contains a fuzzy pink bathrobe, a "Best of Bon Jovi" CD (?) and, to Amy's envy, a big hunk of Brie. Also included is a drawing of Danielle's dream house courtesy of her children. Even her kids have their eyes on the prize.
To that end, Danielle does some PR work about voting Marcellas out of the house. She explains to Amy that Marcellas lost her trust when he got chummy with Roddy. Neither one brings up the fact that Amy was far less trustworthy in that area, at least not to each other. "Her word is gold," says Amy. (It's a good thing she's real estate appraiser and not a jeweler.)
Poor Lisa is realizing too little too late that Danielle and Jason may be up to something. When Jason asked her how she voted in the last eviction, something seemed off to her. He's really not set for a career in the Secret Service - Jason sweats just thinking about lying. It's amazing that he and Danielle have not been caught.
When Lisa drags Danielle into the bathroom to discuss the eviction, Danielle's story is that she voted for Marcellas only because she thought he'd use the veto on himself. It doesn't quite make sense, but Lisa drops it.
The luxury competition is a clever exercise in sizing up the remaining contestants. Julie Chen reappears to explain the rules of the game. Four phones are hidden in the house. (They may have been T-Mobile phones, but the name was only mentioned six or seven times, so it's hard to tell.) When all of the guests find a phone, they are informed that they have just won a three-minute phone call and the opportunity to give a $1,000 gift to a loved one, but there's a catch -- first they must go into the diary room and talk to Julie Chen.
You'd think that making small talk with Julie Chen would be the obstacle, but actually the deal breaker is a loyalty test. If any of the four accepts a bribe, none of the other guests will get their call or gift. All of the guests will be offered the bribe. If more than one person accepts, a number on their phone will determine the winner. They won't be told what the others decided to do.
Danielle goes first and accepts Julie Chen's offer of a $5,000 bribe. Amy is next, and refuses the bribe until it is raised to $10,000. Lisa refuses to betray the other guests, even turning down a $15,000 bribe. Jason stays true until the $15,000 mark and caves, reasoning that it's just a game after all.
What have we learned? If you want to buy a houseguest, Danielle is a bargain, Jason is expensive, and Lisa is not for sale.
As it turns out, Amy has the winning number on her phone and the rest get nothing. They eventually deduce who took which deal. Poor Lisa is surprised once again that she is in a house full of jerks.
Amy calls home and gets her dad. She asks after her dog, Bucky. "Bucky's fine," her dad drawls, managing to turn "fine" into a two-syllable word. Amy's 13-year old brother brags to her about all the doves he has killed.
Hey, isn't CBS looking to cast a family in their new version of "The Beverly Hillbillies?"
Amy is looking for men with perfect teeth to pick her for the America's Choice competition. This week's vote will decide which houseguest will get to chat online with fans. Danielle says she would like to talk about cooking, and Lisa guesses that if she has fans, they are male. Jason says that just thinking about viewers who like him makes him blush. Wonder who will win?
Amy is the first to notice that the "Big Brother3" table has shrunk yet again. The medium-sized replacement for the original large table is gone, now only a four-seater remains. The houseguests wistfully note that the game is close to the end. (Meanwhile, a Zap2it TV writer sobs with relief.)
The "Big Brother 3" masterminds behind the food competitions are also getting a little punchy. Apparently, they have been watching "SpongeBob SquarePants" to come up with ideas. To wit, all of the guests have to suit up in square sponge costumes and transfer water into wading pools in order to win food. It's cruel and fun at the same time.
Kind of like what the gals are doing to Jason, who is now the last man in the house. The 24-year old virgin is being abused. The gals treat him like a butler, he says. Jason's partly to blame, since he hops up to get them whatever snacks they demand. "We really need a bell," Lisa notes.
Still, it's nice to have a guy around, especially an adorable obedient guy. This is why Danielle loves him, and this is why he was the only houseguest not nominated for eviction. She puts up Lisa and Amy, as expected. Jason will have the only vote on Thursday night, so he'll make the final decision. Danielle delivers her advice to the gals with a wink: "You're single, he's single, think of something."
Tune in Wednesday for a lot of blushing.
