'Big Brother 3' Meets the Ick Factor Wednesday, August 14, 2002

It's Wednesday night, Aug. 14. This is the night when nothing really happens on "Big Brother 3" except for lying, backstabbing and more lying.
It's getting really good.
On Saturday, Kiki nominated Josh and Roddy for eviction, claiming that nominating her boyfriend was the only way to ensure Josh's eviction. Did anyone else notice how she also made sure that Jason's key was the last one in the box? Perhaps Kiki's message is really "put out or get out."
In any case, Josh is furious with Chiara for putting him up. He was convinced that she and Roddy were his two closest friends in the house. So he's not the best judge of character.
Chiara makes the rounds among the other players, asking for their word that they will vote for Josh on Thursday. The queen of lies must know that this late in the game, a person's word means nothing but she's still making the effort.
Josh confronts Roddy about the vote mongering, and loudly accuses him of manipulating the game. He yells that it was Roddy who got Chiara to vote for Lisa last Thursday. Chiara rushes over and foolishly admits that she did in fact vote for her "best friend," which Lisa overhears.
Having overheard all of this, Lisa walks in and pretends that Danielle has not already told her about Chiara's vote. As Josh and Roddy continue to fight, Lisa walks off followed closely by Kiki. Knowing she's been nailed as a big fat liar, Chiara explains to Lisa that she voted against her because she "knew" there would be a tied vote.
Lisa knows better, but acts like she accepts the big load of hooey that has just been dumped on her. After Kiki leaves, Lisa tells Danielle her implausible story. They are laughing at how stupid Chiara is when she walks in on them, and wants to know what's going on.
Now, here is the difference between a good liar and a bad liar. Lisa looks like she's been caught shoplifting at Saks. Danielle, however, doesn't miss a beat and tells Chiara that they were discussing the Josh problem. Danielle knows her ABCs -- Always Be Covering.
Not only does Chiara swallow this, she decides to talk to Josh herself. In the HOH room, Josh tells her that she lied to him about never nominating him and never voting for him. She can't really counter on this, it's a fact. She does say she heard Josh planned to nominate her and Roddy. It's probably another lie, but it sets Josh off.
Sure, he comes across as a creepy little inhuman weasel, but the guy can cry on a dime. He tears up as he tells Chiara that he is ready to leave the house if his two closest friends believe that he would turn on them.
Josh vows to walk out of the house right then and ther, but Roddy stops him. He says, "let's all put the game aside for this week and just be." Josh opens up the waterworks again. Big man hug. Yuck.
Speaking of yuck, this episode of "Big Brother 3" is overly heavy on the disgusting moments, brought to you by Gerry. He's an awful, awful man. After a show of every clip they'd saved up of Gerry's sickening personal habits, the houseguests weighed in on "The So What Marathon." Apparently, Gerry corners unsuspecting people and subjects them to endless lectures so boring that Roddy's penninsula weather thing sounds riveting.
Last week, Gerry swore on his dead mother's soul that he would vote against Josh on Thursday. Danielle may convince him to switch is vote. (Sorry, Mom!) She really wants Roddy out of the house. Marcellas agrees to play along if she can guarantee a third vote. Jason refuses to participate, so Lisa may be her best option.
The power of veto game was a memory challenge this week. Unlike in past weeks, no guest openly admitted that they did not want the veto. Lisa ended up winning, and added that she was going to make people squirm because she had this power.
As many of you may recall, Lisa swore revenge on Josh during the first week of the show. She did nothing. The cycle continues. Perhaps Lisa is a big fan of the "make no move" approach to getting even.
Josh begs Lisa to veto Roddy with such passionate intensity that you'd think they were facing death row, not eviction. Come on, Julie Chen's exit interviews are painful, not life threatening. After he leaves Lisa cracks up.
Last week, the houseguests said what appliance they wanted in America's Choice segment. The lovely Jason asked for a microwave, they got a microwave. He asked for popcorn, they sent him popcorn. America loves Jason. He should have asked for a car.
"Big Brother 3" runs another scary montage. This time, it's the "Josh Feinberg is a Freak" show. See him talk to the lizards in a funny voice. See him fart on Roddy. See him play chess with a funny voice. See his weird facial hair. Funny music plays in the background.
The music suddenly turns sad. Chiara speculates that there is a real sadness in Josh. See Josh get choked up and cry. Over and over again. Josh needs Prozac.
Medication may have come in handy during the veto ceremony. When Lisa asked Roddy and Josh to give her a reason to save them, Roddy said the whole "do what you think is best" line. Josh, on the other hand, used the opportunity to call Chiara on each and every one of her lies, and there have been a quite a few.
Nonetheless, Lisa opts not to use the veto because she doesn't want to upset Chiara. Don't forget, she has vowed revenge against Kiki, but it's the slow, nothing-will-ever-happen type of revenge. Just to drive this point home, she gives Chiara a big hug in the HOH room.
Tomorrow night, Roddy or Josh is headed out of the house. Josh is already packed and ready to go, but Danielle's machinations may pull off a shocker. Who would you rather have around, the sad clown or the lipless trivia machine?
